The Phi Delt Jags were able to continue their intramural momentum this year with a win over Sigma Phi Epsilon in the championship of the spring’s intramural ultimate frisbee tournament. Going into the game the Jags had preformed well in previous contests, so they did not expect such an early struggle. The Jags were losing with an early score of 2-3.
“They played good offense and we weren’t sure how to stop them,” said Phikeia Ryan Gibson. “We calmed down, realized our mistakes and started connecting well as a team.”
The Jags would fire back with six unanswered points, putting the final score at 8-3 in favor of the Jags. Gibson, along with Trent Sauceda, performed well for the Jags throughout the tournament.
“Trent and Ryan both catch everything and make perfect throws,” said Bond 796 Matthew Peek.
Peek helped secure the championship win with 4 interceptions. Bond 778 Louie Wieseman was the high-scorer with 3 goals scored.
” I am proud of how every brother played together and couldn’t have asked for any more effort,” said Gibson. “It was a great day.”
